Ken Harper
Ken Harper is a versatile musician who has performed and taught in 35 U.S. states, 6 European countries, 6 Canadian provinces, and through the Caribbean on cruise ships twice.
He has studied music at Humber College and earned an Hon. B.F.A. in modern jazz studies from York University in Toronto. Ken teaches Cuban bongo playing, drumset, and Irish bodhran, mentoring students of all levels, from beginner to advanced.
His teaching emphasizes a musical approach to drumming rather than a strictly rudimental one, nurturing the craft of playing. Central to his teaching is a strong emphasis on developing a solid time feel and understanding musical composition. He believes that everyone has something valuable to contribute through their musical interests.
