Sarah Ramsay

Sarah Ramsay is a professional Saxophonist (alto, tenor, bari, soprano), Clarinetist (bass clarinet and Bb clarinet) and Flutist (alto flute and concert flute) with experience performing and 5 years of teaching experience both online and in person. Sarah has a Bachelor of Music in Woodwind Performance degree from Humber College and an Introduction to Commercial Jazz Certificate from Humber College.

Sarah believes in developing enjoyment in music and adhering to students personal goals. In essence, what a student brings to a lesson (how prepared they are) determines the lesson, with the understanding that a teacher's job is to encourage growth. This can seem intimidating or as if there is no encouragement of practice/development, however, it truly comes from a place of acknowledging that people and kids are busy. Also, music for the most part is about having fun and connecting with other people. There will be homework, but passion before regiment.

With this model of teaching, together we can tackle things that the student is working on in school, is passionate about or is working towards (i.e an audition or performance).

Personally, Sarah has experience in jazz, pop, concert band, big band, jazz fusion, latin and classical and is known under the artist name “RAMSAY” as well. Sarah is also an experienced arranger and composer.
